We had a two man crew, the captain and Jasper. They were both very informative about the area and the animals. The boat is small and comfortable, with enough room inside and outside for everyone. The small capacity was nice (10-12 people) and didn’t feel overcrowded. It was a beautiful, scenic tour of the bay and the animals and sea life that reside there.

This is a wonderful tour! The scenery was stunning and we got to see so much wildlife! Our captain, Lindsey and first mate, Lance were top notch guides. They knew the best places for viewing and shared great information about the wildlife and landscapes. We saw many different kinds of birds, some very rare, like the oyster catcher. The sea otters were our favorite! We saw puffins, eagles, and sea lions too! We would highly recommend this absolutely fantastic tour!

I wanted to see puffins while in Alaska. This tour was on a list of local recommended tours from the Oceans & Islands Refuge Center in Homer. The tour was amazing and worth every penny. We saw several types of marine birds at Gull Island, including puffins! We saw tufted puffins and a more rare horned puffin. We saw many sea otters and even saw a mom and her pup out of the water on the rocks, which the guide said was rare. Our guide, Justin, was very knowledgeable. He knew the name of every bird, island, waterway, etc. I highly recommend this tour. Take note that the tour goes even if it's raining, so dress appropriately.

We had the best time!! Captain Lindsey and Lance were amazing guides. They took us to perfect places in the bay for spotting wildlife. We saw several species of birds; muffins, eagles, oyster catchers, loons, and more. We saw dozens of sea otters and sea lions too. The scenery was absolutely stunning! I would highly recommend this tour!

The flight to and from within a float plane was a uniquely Alaskan experience. On top of the flight was the bears! It was brilliant.

It was such a cool hike! It was about 3.5 miles or so and most of it was super easy. Would totally do it again if we are back in Homer!

The pilot was professional and can fly a sea plane well. He knew the area and answered all questions.

Highly recommend Coldwater Alaska! The captain and deck hand were great! The whole trip was wonderful!

Was a fabulous time with a great fun guide Cody! Horses were amazing and views to die for. Especially loved the water experience!

There is no bathroom on the boat, but the guides did offer to stop and get off the boat for a potty break. Guides had great knowledge about each bird, and other sea life animals! Fantastic tour!

This self guided tour was great. It is amazing how it works. You just start the tour, and it follows your location of the phone. We couldn't do everything because we didn't want to hike, but definitely worth the price to listen to while driving from Anchorage to Homer on the Seward Hwy.

It was a beautiful day for a beach ride! Cody was organized when we arrived. Had a great walk on the beach and through the water!! Saw a beautiful waterfall and learned about the history and some geology as well. It was an amazing day and I plan to go back with my granddaughter soon. Absolutely worth the time!!

If you want to visit Alaska, but don’t want to include a crowded cruise, I have a suggestion. My wife and I spent 7 days in Alaska. We flew into Anchorage and used it as our base. From there we used the Alaska Railroad to get to both Denali National Park and to Seward. We booked our stay at the Wingate by Wyndham which is located about 3 blocks from the train station- walking distance! We arrived on a Sunday afternoon which gave us time to get familiar with Anchorage. The next morning we took the Alaska Railroad to Denali station. When I called the railroad to make reservations the agent advised me that they have Adventure Class- which was basic and fine or Gold Star Class which is an upgrade. Gold Star seats in the upper deck and includes a meal. When I spoke to the agent and told her our plans, she suggested Tundra Tours which include a more thorough tour of the park. We took her suggestion. When you arrive at the Anchorage station you drop your luggage off, tell them your hotel or lodge. They then tag your luggage and it is taken to your hotel. When our train arrived At Denali Station you walk up some steps and buses from the various lodges are waiting to bring you to your location. We booked our room at Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. It was quite spacious with about 12 different lodges. There are also several shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. Tundra Tours picked us up at our lodge the second day (Tuesday) there. We saw a lot of scenery and some wildlife. The next day we took the train back to Anchorage. We spent a second night at the Wingate. The next morning we boarded another train to Seward. We booked the Breeze Inn. Like before we had our luggage tagged and it arrived safely at the Breeze Inn! That day we spent getting acquainted with Seward. Nice town and easy to get around without a car. Our hotel was an 5 minutes from the train station. If you want to travel to parts of the city they have free shuttle service. We booked a boat tour with Major Marine. Their office is a block from our hotel. The people at the Breeze Inn were great and made sure our luggage got to the train while we were on our boat tour. The boat tour was the highlight of our week’s trip. We saw wildlife like otters , porpoises, seals, sea lions, and both Killer and Humpback whales!! We also got very close to a couple of glaciers-closer than the huge tour ships can get. When we got off the boat we went right to the train. They organized the tour so we wouldn’t miss our train. I want to add the train rides were very scenic and there was plenty of leg room. There were plenty of opportunities for pictures. We took the train back to Anchorage for a third night. The next day our hotel brought us back to the airport.If you want to visit Alaska without the boat cruise I suggest give this plan a try.
