I expected a trolley tour. What I got was an Italian masterclass in storytelling on wheels. Vinny isn't just a driver—he's the kind of bloke who could make a stop sign sound historically significant. Every landmark came with a story, every street had a reason, and somehow he made Anchorage feel less like a city on a map and more like a place you'd want to call home. The one-hour ride flew by. No dull scripts, no robotic commentary—just genuine passion, local knowledge, and enough personality to keep everyone paying attention. It felt like exploring the city with your hilarious Italian uncle who somehow knows everyone and everything. The pacing was spot on, the facts were fascinating, and Vinny sprinkled in personal stories that made the tour feel authentic rather than rehearsed. You leave with more than photos—you leave understanding Anchorage. If every city tour had a Vinny behind the wheel, I'd actually stop complaining about sightseeing. Absolutely brilliant. Five stars.

Excellent rapport with tourists, knowledgeable, humorous,were able to see more of the city on the guided tour than on our own. Worth the money!

Overall, the trip was enjoyable. Our guide was not as entertaining as some other tours we've been in, but not bad. The glacier cruise was very interesting and got really close to the glacier. The crew of the boat was very good and kept things entertaining. The wildlife center was very good as well. We had two hours there and enjoyed seeing all of the animals.Dress is cold weather layers for the glacier cruise. It gets windy and cold as the wind comes off of the glacier, and there is always a chance of rain.

Excellent day to see the Portage glacier and the Wildlife Conservation center. We got picked up and dropped off at our hotel which was appreciated. Our driver was friendly and knowledgeable. Saw a moose with her 2 babies at one of our stops. Overall a great day and nice experience with the company. I would recommend.

Absolutely the best way to start the cruise adventure if you fly into Anchorage. Tayllor was an outstanding guide who was very informative and more importantly a pleasure to talk to and be around. Definitely worth the money and time to begin our Alaskan adventure! Almost felt like we’ve had some great experiences before we even stepped foot on the cruise ship.

This was so fun! We got to go at our own pace and choose which side quests we want to do and which ones we wanted to skip. There were lots of spots to stop and take pictures and fun stories to keep us entertained along the way!

The cruise was a good time to spend with the family and see the glacier. Crew did an excellent job. The only issue I had was that it was hard to hear the commentary while seated in the enclosed area. This was due to the quality of the speakers and the noise of the engine.

There is great historical information but it needs much more support from the local native Alaskans. More weaving available for purchase from local historical fibers, ore scrimshaw work, if supplies are available, etc

If you want to visit Alaska, but don’t want to include a crowded cruise, I have a suggestion. My wife and I spent 7 days in Alaska. We flew into Anchorage and used it as our base. From there we used the Alaska Railroad to get to both Denali National Park and to Seward. We booked our stay at the Wingate by Wyndham which is located about 3 blocks from the train station- walking distance! We arrived on a Sunday afternoon which gave us time to get familiar with Anchorage. The next morning we took the Alaska Railroad to Denali station. When I called the railroad to make reservations the agent advised me that they have Adventure Class- which was basic and fine or Gold Star Class which is an upgrade. Gold Star seats in the upper deck and includes a meal. When I spoke to the agent and told her our plans, she suggested Tundra Tours which include a more thorough tour of the park. We took her suggestion. When you arrive at the Anchorage station you drop your luggage off, tell them your hotel or lodge. They then tag your luggage and it is taken to your hotel. When our train arrived At Denali Station you walk up some steps and buses from the various lodges are waiting to bring you to your location. We booked our room at Denali Princess Wilderness Lodge. It was quite spacious with about 12 different lodges. There are also several shops, restaurants, and coffee shops. Tundra Tours picked us up at our lodge the second day (Tuesday) there. We saw a lot of scenery and some wildlife. The next day we took the train back to Anchorage. We spent a second night at the Wingate. The next morning we boarded another train to Seward. We booked the Breeze Inn. Like before we had our luggage tagged and it arrived safely at the Breeze Inn! That day we spent getting acquainted with Seward. Nice town and easy to get around without a car. Our hotel was an 5 minutes from the train station. If you want to travel to parts of the city they have free shuttle service. We booked a boat tour with Major Marine. Their office is a block from our hotel. The people at the Breeze Inn were great and made sure our luggage got to the train while we were on our boat tour. The boat tour was the highlight of our week’s trip. We saw wildlife like otters , porpoises, seals, sea lions, and both Killer and Humpback whales!! We also got very close to a couple of glaciers-closer than the huge tour ships can get. When we got off the boat we went right to the train. They organized the tour so we wouldn’t miss our train. I want to add the train rides were very scenic and there was plenty of leg room. There were plenty of opportunities for pictures. We took the train back to Anchorage for a third night. The next day our hotel brought us back to the airport.If you want to visit Alaska without the boat cruise I suggest give this plan a try.

This was absolutely the highlight of our trip to Alaska. Portage Lake is Beautiful, seeing the glacier was impressive and the crew made the experience magical.

Beautiful travel and great destinations. The driver was knowledgeable and easy to understand and converse with. I recommend this tour.

This is a great way to experience a drive! The recorded information not only gives you information about the site you are approaching but gives it in time to slow down and stop before you pass it. It gives other pertinent information between sites. Loved it and will look for other tours in the future.

Everything about this train was amazing. Views were great, food was good, seats were comfortable. Narrating was much appreciated.

NCL, at the last minute, notified us that the ship was having engine problems and most of the post stops would be cut short. Some excursions would bee cut short or cancelled. All the port stops were cut by 30 minutes except Victoria, BC. Victoria, BC was to be sail in to the harbor but not permitted to go ashore. It turned out the stop was cancelled completely. To Bad So Sorry, here is 50 dollar ships credit. Now the cruise: Miss placed luggage the first day. Fixed in 5 hours. Missed a specialty dinner appointment. The Food at Cagney's was excellent also at La Cucina. Skip the seafood, Palomar, restaurant it was not exciting. Average fair average menu. Excursions: WOW the Behind the Scenes of the ship was awesome. Worth the time and money. Sitka: the culinary tour was good, not too much walking, good sampling of the city. Guide was great. Juneau: Mendenhall Glacier Awesome sight. Icy Strait Point: Take what strike your interest. all good. Ketchken: This was exciting. The walking culinary tour was great. Alas we did not stop in Victoria, BC. NCL deemed it unnecessary. Great Cruise overall. We might do it again after we hit all others on our bucket list.
