Dryland Dog Sled Tour
Overview
Get to know the dogs of Susitna Sled Dog Adventures! Join us in training our dogs when theres not snow. Explore the world of sled dogs, learn what it takes to compete in races, and understand why these incredible animals thrive in this unique role. We’ll tell you stories about the dogs and share adventures from the trails. After the dryland ride and some playtime in the yard, we’ll dress up a dog in a harness, show you the sled, and talk about the winter gear we use. What To Expect
Visit the home and kennel of Iditarod musher Rohn Buser and family, and take a ride with racing sled dogs! Learn all about the sport of mushing and see why these dogs love to run so much! You will embark on a guided tour aboard our cozy, 5-passenger vehicle perfect for the whole family! It's equipped with a powerful engine to assist the dogs on rough terrain. Depending on the weather, our sled dog rides range from 0.5 to 2 miles (we keep it shorter in the summer to keep our pups cool). During the ride, we'll stop for photos with the dogs and even switch up positions in the vehicle for everyone to enjoy the view.
After the ride we'll spend time in the dog yard where you can meet more of our Iditarod sled dogs. You'll get an up close look at the sled and equipment we use, and learn how dogs and mushers work together as a team. If we have puppies, we'll finish the visit with cuddles from the next generation of canine athletes.
This experience is perfect for dog lovers looking for an authentic, behind the scenes look at a working Iditarod kennel and, of course, a healthy dose of dog therapy.
We can't wait for you to join us on this unforgettable journey!
